Class Policies

Before you come to class or a workshop located at Nya Studio, there are a few policies you should be aware of. Please review all class policies. If you have questions or would like additional clarification on any of the policies, please contact Zabel. Upon purchase of classes or workshops, you are agreeing to all policies presented here.

– Classes are non-refundable and non-transferable

Once you purchase you purchase your class card, tuition, workshop or drop-in class, that purchase can not be refunded or transferred to another person. Classes are run based under the understanding that a minimum number of dancers will be attending.

– Classes are run with a three person minimum

If there are less than three dancers signed up for a single class, that class will not run. Sometimes, classes will push back the start date of a class by one week to give more time for last minute signups. After that the class will be rescheduled. It is imperative that you sign up for class ahead of time to prevent classes from being postponed or canceled. Please do not leave signing up for the day of class, it is super disappointing when you show up at the door to sign up for a class and it was canceled due to low registration.

– Classes start promptly on the scheduled start time

If you are more than 10 minutes late for class, you are responsible for warming yourself up in the lobby before joining the technique portion of the class. If you know you are going to be more than a few minutes late for class, please text Zabel to let her know.

– Make-Ups are allowed in moderation

We allow students to make up two (2) missed classes by attending another dance class taught by the same instructor, if available. Anything over two missed classes will not be refunded, or otherwise compensated by the dance instructor, or Nya Studio. If there have been extenuating circumstances, the staff may be willing and able to work out a plan with you. Makeups can not count towards a new session.

– Attire

Please come dressed in appropriate dance attire. Our dance instructors suggest dressing in yoga pants and a t-shirt or workout shirt. Please make sure your attire is comfortable, but not baggy. If your clothing is too loose, your instructor will not be able to tell if your body has fallen out of alignment, and injury could occur. For belly dance classes, you may wear a sports bra, but you are never required to show your stomach. Please be advised that socks are allowed, but are slippery on on the studio floor. Dance shoes are permitted, but not required. Zabel prefers to dance barefoot personally. If you prefer dance shoes, Zabel recommends split sole ballet slippers or jazz shoes. Other dance forms may require a specific dance shoe. Please contact your instructor directly if you have questions regarding the footwear for your class.

– Class Cancellations or Schedule Changes

It doesn’t happen often, but occasionally classes need to be cancelled or the schedule adjusted. Should any session not run as advertised on the Classes Page, an e-mail will be sent out to all paid participants in that session. Notifications will also be posted on Zabel’s Facebook Page. It is highly recommended that you like the Facebook page for the most up-to-date info on classes and dancer resources.

Class Policies are subject to change without notification. Please be sure to review policies periodically for the most up-to-date version of class and studio policies.
